Tokyo is now in summer mode with the weather being constantly over 30 degrees and the sun rises before around 4:30am.
Work has been busy and as June is one of the few months in Japan without a public holiday, I am longing for mid July when we have a long weekend.
I have been longing for a domestic trip around Japan so I planned a nature getaway that should be cooler than in Tokyo -to Aomori where we have been a couple of times before – Oirase Gorge.

Recently, my husband and I have been obsessed with this Alaskan reality tv series where we’re constantly watching people hunting and fishing to survive in remote and cold areas. From this, I now have a desire to fish.
I looked at hiring a boat but found that you can fish in Oirase Gorge if you’re willing to wake up before 5am.
Travel planning was falling to place as I found this cute microhotel uqui that just opened up a couple of months ago in Lake Towada.
This week, my husband visited Hakodate for a business trip where a little boy came up to him and offered this handmade zine – apparently they were kids from Towada lake area in Aomori encouraging people visiting Hakodate in Hokkaido to visit Aomori.

What a coincidence!
Cute magazine made by the primary school kids were quite insightful, I’m keen to visit Roma Park recommended by Momoka to try apple soft serve ice cream and visit Meiko’s recommendation of Contemporary Art Museum.

Aomori is calling us and I can’t wait to visit next month.
What’s something you’re looking forward to in the near future?
Hope you have a good weekend.
